- Summarise and analyse information relevant to key ideas or concepts.
- Refine ideas and information
- Identify evaluative language (positive or negative language that judges the worth of something) and bias (prejudice in favour of or against).
Classroom Organisation
- Students are to work together in groups of 4-6 students.
Learning Experiences
- Each student is given a piece of A2 cardboard and the appropriate utensils to create a poster.
- Students are to select 3 influential people from the Aboriginal community and to explore their impact on the Indigenous culture.
- For each influential person students should consider the following who, what, why, where, when, how.
- Students are to make the poster visually appealing so it can be put on display in the classroom.
Assessment
- Students will not be assessed on the posters however their contribution will be noted.
Adjustments
- Students will be grouped accordingly to support all learners.
- ESL students will be in a group with the gifted student. This allows a solid support system for the ESL learners.
- Students with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder will be supported in this lesson with an exciting hands on task.
- Both indigenous students will be catered for as the topic is of interest to them and they will feel as though they can offer valuable insight to the group.
